Purpose
The Healing Together for Dads program provides a safe space for men to connect and learn about the impact that DFV has had on their child and parenting. The program supports men to begin to restore their parenting role through acknowledging their parenting choices and building their capacity to respond to their child’s emotional needs.
The program aims to EDUCATE AND SUPPORT fathers to gain knowledge and understanding of the impact of DFV on child development and behavior. The program is designed to share knowledge of the impact of DFV on mother-child and father-child relationships and how to take steps towards healing and connection for everyone.
This program will support fathers to build capacity in father-child relationship practices and promote connection for fathers, healthy parenting styles and responsible co-parenting practices. Upon the completion of the program, it is aimed to grow the father’s self-care/compassion and support fathers to access other appropriate services.

About the Program
The program consists of eight two-hour sessions with one session completed per week in order. This program is delivered face-to-face from our Cleveland office. Although we service the Southern Moreton Bay Islands, our capacity to provide a program via ZOOM is limited. However, please enquire below to speak to the team if you are interested in a virtual delivery method
THE SESSIONS COVER:
Orientation
Impacts of trauma on the brain
Neuroplasticity - how the brain can heal
Attachment styles between parent and child
Parenting styles
Discipline vs punishment
Adolescents
Co-parenting
The program is facilitated by a qualified professional who will take the time to get to know you, listen to your story and experiences, and work to support you.
The program has also been endorsed by and created alongside various professionals and community members including non-government organisations across South East Queensland, Queensland Health teams, First Nations community members from Quandamooka and surrounding mobs, and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse stakeholders.
We know that each parenting journey is different and we will work hard to ensure you get the most out of it you possibly can.

The Assessment will be conducted via phone or face to face with the Program Coordinator.
