Purpose

Rewriting the Bro-Code is a program for young men who have experiences of family violence, whether as a victim or as the person using violence. This program is designed to support your journey of healing and recovery through combined mentorship, education, and physical activity.

Men & Co. Services believe supporting young men in their recovery after exposure to domestic violence is crucial to break the cycle of violence. Domestic violence can have ongoing psychological impacts, including trauma, anxiety, and depression. Providing support helps young men process their experiences, promoting emotional healing and mental well-being. Exercise, when combined with behaviour change efforts, can assist with brain regeneration in the areas of emotion, habits and decision-making, allowing for adoption and maintenance of new, healthier attitudes and behaviours.

About the Program

Mentors and young people will select a physical activity that becomes the foundation for each session, and over 12 weeks, will unpack experience and teach strategies to manage and process their trauma. We encourage all levels of fitness and offer a range of activities to suit varying interests.
